Chief Executive Officer

Pieter De Weerdt is the Executive Partner of Antarctica Asset Management Ltd. Since 2007 he also serves as independent IC member of a large European PE investment vehicle. In that capacity he has assisted in investing over 2.5 bio Eur in PE across the globe. He previously worked for ABN AMRO (1995-1999). His last position was Head of European Bond Trading (Amsterdam) where he was mainly in charge of the conversion to Euro and the restructuring of the European offices ahead of the Pan-European market. He was also responsible for all trading and back-book positions in the Euro zone. Previously he headed the bond trading desks of the Belgian (Brussels) and French (Paris) branches of ABN AMRO. Prior to ABN AMRO Pieter worked for JP Morgan in Brussels where he was responsible for Belgian Government bond trading and marketing (1991-1995). Prior to banking he practiced as a lawyer at a Belgian law firm. Pieter holds a degree in Law from the University of Leuven (KUL) (1984-1989) and pursued a specialization in finance at the University of Louvain-La-Neuve (IAG2D) (1990-1991).

Head of Business Development

Filip Vandenven is Executive Director at Antarctica Asset Management (Asia) Limited and Head of Business Development. Prior to joining, he was co-founder of Wingfield Corporation (2000-2007), where he led the corporate finance team, with a focus mainly on early stage venture capital and seed funding. Filip began his professional career as a Consultant at Price Waterhouse (1991-1993) in the Corporate Finance Department where he was part of the team responsible for the M&A and valuation activity in the Benelux. He continued his career in the financial sector in fixed income products at JP Morgan in Sydney, Australia (1994-1995). Filip has been involved in a number of start-ups and joint ventures. Filip has a BA in applied economics from the University of Antwerp with a specialization in international affairs.

Head of Operations

Jadid Khan is Head of Operations at Antarctica Asset Management Ltd. Prior to joining Antarctica; he was at International Asset Management Ltd (IAM) based in London for 9 years as a member of the senior management team taking responsibility for operations and special projects. At IAM, Jadid played a pivotal role in transforming the operational framework of the business, increasing automation, accuracy and efficiencies in all areas. During his time at IAM Jadid led the Investment Accounting and IT teams and built a capability to facilitate transactions in the secondary hedge fund market. Prior to IAM Jadid was at West LB Asset Management, also based in London, supporting the emerging markets investment team in all areas of operations. Jadid has a BA in Business Economics from Leicester University and is a CAIA charter holder.

General Counsel

Hernan Lopez Mazzeo is General Counsel of Antarctica Asset Management Ltd.. Hernán has been working with the Antarctica Group since inception in 2001 firstly as board member of the Antarctica’s then flagship product, Antarctica Market Neutral Fund Ltd.. Prior to his engagement as General Counsel with Antarctica, he was at the law firm Estudio Bosch in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he remains a partner since 2003. From 1999 until 2002, he was a senior associate at Estudio O’Farrell in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he developed an expertise in capital markets and banking. He was previously a foreign associate at the New York office of the international law firm Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP in the Latin America practice group. In 1998, Hernan was assigned to the London office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius as a member of the Finance and Corporate group. Hernán received a degree in law from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1994, and a Masters Degree in Law and Economics from Universidad Torcuato di Tella, Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2000.

Senior Independent Member of the Investment and Allocation Committee

Idan Shani is a senior independent member of the investment and allocation committee with reporting duties to the board of directors of Antarctica Asset Management. Prior to joining Antarctica, Idan was a research analyst at Ivy Asset Management Corp. (2005-2008), focusing on credit, distressed, and event driven strategies and managers.  He has also had experience at Ivy as an analyst in portfolio management, supporting portfolio analytics and reporting, as well as system and process automation.  Idan holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics with a Division of Studies in Management, summa cum laude, from the Open University of Israel. He is both a CFA and CAIA charter holder.

Senior Research Analyst

Rana Atie is Head of Antarctica Asset Management (Europe) Limited and a senior research analyst. Ms Atie previously worked at the World Bank (2004-2006), in Washington DC as a Junior Professional Associate in the Banking and Debt Management Group. Prior to that, she interned for Credit Suisse in London, at the Private Client Services department. She holds an MBA (finance and investment) and a Bachelor of Science degree in System Analysis and Engineering from the George Washington University.

Head of Operational Due Diligence

Joseph Li leads the Operational Due Diligence function for Antarctica Asset Management (US), Inc. Prior to joining the firm in July 2008, Joe was a Director for the Regional Due Diligence Management group at ABN Amro. At ABN Amro (2005-2008), Joe headed the High Grade Financial Institutions & Alternative Asset Managers team, which was responsible for reviewing all investment advisors, hedge funds and other alternative asset managers. Joe worked at B-Trade Securities LLC (2003-2005) in New York as a Senior Credit Analyst / Credit Officer for the Credit & Risk Management Group and at Instinet Corporation (1998-2003) as a Credit Manager / Credit Analyst in the Global Risk Management Department. He received his credit training at Moody’s Investors Service, where he worked as a bond analyst in the Public Finance Department (1993 to 1998) in the Higher Education and other Not-for-Profit Sector group. Joe received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from NYU and a Masters in Business Administration in Finance from St. John’s University.

Senior Research Analyst

Atsede Aemro-Selassie is a Senior Research Analyst at Antarctica Asset Management (Europe) Limited. Prior to joining Antarctica, Atsede was a research analyst at SAIL Advisors (2012-2013), focusing on global equity long/short strategies. Prior to SAIL, she held a similar role at Robeco Investment Management (2008-2011) in London and New York. She previously worked as an economic analyst at the World Bank (2005-2007) in Washington DC with focus on public expenditure review in Southern Africa region. Between 1998-2002 she worked at American Express Asset Management as economic/equity analyst in London. Atsede started her career at the Economist Intelligence Unit (1995-1997) as a researcher tasked with macroeconomic data analysis. Atsede holds an MBA from Imperial College (London) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of Greenwich (London).

Senior Research Analyst

Robertson Reid is a Senior Research Analyst at Antarctica Asset Management (Europe) Limited. Prior to joining Antarctica, Mr Reid completed a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, where he gained experience within the industry working at Irons Foulner Partners. During his time at Edinburgh, he had the opportunity to partake in the pioneering research of synthetic biology, presenting the findings at a conference at MIT University. Most recently he has completed a Masters in Finance at the Imperial College Business School.

Research Analyst

Maria Sfika is a Research Analyst at Antarctica Asset Management (Europe) Ltd. Before joining Antarctica, Maria spent four years at Mercer as a Fixed Income Manager Research Senior Analyst. Before that she worked at Russell Investments as an intern in Hedge Funds/Alternative Investments. Prior to joining Russell Investments, she was a consultant at Deloitte UK. Maria holds a Master of Science in International Banking, Finance and Risk management from Glasgow Caledonian University London and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Ioannina.

Quant Research Analyst

Tyler Mitchell is a Quant Research Analyst at Antarctica Asset Management (Europe) Ltd. Prior to joining Antarctica, he was a Market Risk Analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he rotated between EMEA Credit (GCSS) market risk and Portfolio Analysis teams. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Mathematics and Statistics from the London School of Economics.

Alex Chang Tang is a Business Analyst at Antarctica Asset Management (Asia) Ltd. Alex previously interned for Internet Solutions Partners and World Medical Leaders in the marketing research department in New York City. Prior to that, he assisted in the Foundation of Arts Incorporated in Human Services, a non-profit organization (1999). Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications Studies from New York University.

Business Development Director

Winnie Shi is a Business Development Director at Antarctica Asset Management (Asia) Ltd. Prior to joining, Winnie was a vice president in the alternative investments team & investor relations team at a multi-family office in Hong Kong, where she focused on the growth and late stages of Chinese private equity investments. Winnie began her professional career in the investment banking divisions of Bank of America Merrill Lynch and China Merchants Bank International. Winnie continued her career as an investment manager in the direct investments team of China Great Wall Asset Management Company and developed an expertise in multi-asset investing. Winnie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of California, Berkeley.

Business Development Manager

Jack Lee is a Business Development Manager at Antarctica Asset Management (Asia) Ltd. Jack previously worked for the Private Client team at Lombard Odier and a Hong Kong based family office. Prior to that, he had been with the Investment Consulting team at Credit Suisse Private Banking, where he advised Asian UHNW and HNW clients on multi-asset class investment solutions. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from the University of Hong Kong.

Head of Antarctica Private

Mathieu is currently the head of Antarctica Private, a subsidiary of Antarctica Group. Before that, Mathieu was the Head of Asia Pacific for Moonfare, a technology platform allowing High Net Worth individuals to invest in private equity funds. In this capacity, Mathieu set up and run the Asia Pacific operations, establishing Moonfare as the leading private equity investment platform for HNWI in Asia Pacific. Before that, Mathieu was Head of Private Markets for UBS Wealth Management in Asia, responsible for the distribution of Private Investments to UBS Wealth Management clients. Products under his responsibility included Direct Investments, Pre-IPO Investments, co-Investment deals, Private Equity and Private Debt funds, Real Estate funds and Real Estate Segregated Mandates. He managed a team in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan. Mathieu joined UBS in 2006 in London as an Investment Banker in Equity Capital Markets. Prior to that, he held a similar position at Merrill Lynch. Mathieu holds a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics for Finance from Ecole Centrale Paris.

Senior Advisor and Member of the Antarctica Private Investment Committee

Francis is senior advisor and a member of the investment committee of Antarctica Private. Francis has over 30 years of experience in the finance industry. He spent the past 20 years at Inter Ikea, and in particular was IC Member, CIO and Head of Deal Team for the private market investments for 16 years. Francis has extensive experience in deploying capital in private equity funds, venture capital funds and co-investment opportunities, across multiple strategies, sectors and regions. Before that, Francis held various management positions on the derivatives trading floors of Societe Generale, BNP Paribas and CDC Ixis. Francis holds a Master’s degree from University Paris Dauphine and an MBA from New York Institute of Technology.

Private Equity Associate

Ashil Doorga is a Private Equity Associate for Antarctica Private. Prior to joining Antarctica, Ashil was an Analyst at Palomino Capital, a Montreal-based family office. He was responsible for conducting due diligence across the alternative asset space spanning private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, real estate, and private debt. Ashil holds a Master’s degree in Finance from the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from McGill University. He is also a charterholder of the CFA and CAIA designations.
